Time has really gotton away from me recently, work has been so busy!!
So the next thing i have to do is to check through all the application files to see what works and what does not with php_flag register globals off. Yes that is right the setup i was using for MPS was with register globals on :(
Anyhow, this give me the oppertunity to revisit some of the base code written a while ago and update it to bring it into line with current coding practices i have employed elsewhere on the site. The other main difference was that the very first version of MPS was written in php4, so I should find i have to do less work arounds as php5 has more built in functionality that php4, naturally.
I have quite alot of work to do behind the scenes before you may start to notice visible changes to the site. I will also be updating the backend of the site as the database could do with a bit of a looking at and refinement. The news system administration interface and publishing sections will have a major overhaul first adding features such as file uploads, attachments, smilies, a better method of catagorising content through 'tagging' it with keywords as well as placing it in specific catagories, of which there is currently two levels per post, but only one entry per post meaning that a post cannot be in multiple catagoreies. This may seem like a minor issue now, but i think changing it now will made a great deal of difference once i implement the search engine in to the site later on down the track.
You may have noticed a new Catagory on the left hand side nav area called 'Facebook Apps': I am currently devising an application that will intergrate into the facebook site using the facebook php5 api. I have had some success already and have managed to get a very simple test application (of sorts) up and runninig but nothing is released at this time. Though once i get a bit or a better idea how to intergrate more fully with the FBapi th eaplication should start to sprout fairly quickly. I will place a demo area somewhere yet to be determined so those of you who are interested in it can try it out.
